Independent Junior schools generally prepare
children for entry into independent senior schools or to
move to local state schools. Aspirations are high, with a
great commitment to the full realisation of the child’s
potential.
Much is demanded of teachers in AIJS schools, but the rewards
are great. Professional development is encouraged, facilities
are good and the school environment is both challenging and
supportive. Some children will be extremely able; others
may have special needs. Teaching groups are smaller than
in the state sector.
Teachers with experience in the state sector
are welcomed, as well as those seeking their first appointment.
There are good opportunities to take positions of responsibility in AIJS schools
and for career advancement.
